2009

Hmmm, just checked: one blog in 2008, and one in 2009. Unexpectedly, here is the second one for 2009! ;) So, what’s new, (except tons of new recording equipment and synths)? Been quite busy, and, as you can see, there are some new solos in the video/drum solo section. That’s a very nice little Yamaha Recording custom drum set I acquired. We made the recording quite a long time ago but, as mentioned before, time is sparse these days...

How Long Ago, my free online retro feel album, is progressing nicely. I am looking forward to doing a track with all the synths I acquired, and to make that happen I am waiting for a new (audio) converter so that I can plug all the stuff in at the same time. After the album is complete, remixing and remastering will be in order, and with some album art and a few videos I will release this project into the void of the internet (and maybe just make a vinyl version as well).

This inspired me to pick up on other genres I like (orchestral for instance) and do online albums of those too. I expect the first one to be called a "Movie Suite" and will be a collection of music that might come from a Hollywood movie. Also plan to work on synth demos and odes to a few of my favorite composers.

In the mean time I am in the long and painful process of remaking my studio and room acoustics. Finished several games including Ziro, which has just started selling at www.ziroworld.com and www.eipixstore.com. Among interesting things I would mention a new music video with Keckec and the Acid Folk orchestra that is soon to be complete (and available here :)).

Hi All,

Very long time, no see. I was very busy making music for games so I didn’t have a lot of time for writing. However, recently I got some help in web maintenance so I will hopefully be writing on a more regular basis. The good thing is that there seems to be more and more demand for Xtruist music which is great news. Feel free to check out some of the stuff I have been working on in the audio section of this site. The help I mentioned comes in the form of a colleague, Mr. Pedja Ljubojevic who is a producer at Eipix games. He has been very helpful with reorganizing the web site, and complete web presence of Xtruist. Thanks to him all the songs are online and available for you to download and enjoy. Other than music for new games I plan to work on some solo projects in the form of free online albums that I will update from time to time. I plan to start with a Vangelis like ambient electronic music album. Expect the first song very soon. As always I would really appreciate your input on anything Xtruist related.

OTHERS ABOUT MY WORK

Game Review - Ziro
www.puzzleuniverse.com
Susan Ensor, February 27, 2009

"Again, Ziro surprised me with the music that is incorporated in the game. Unlike most puzzle games, the music changes throughout the game, moving from something whimsical to an almost techno style. This music is reminiscent of many old console video games and I would not be surprised if many players have a feeling of deja vu. I believe it was definitely worth the time of the developers to spend extra time working on sound effects and music, since this part of the game was absolutely superb."

Pyroblazer - HOT Racing Action
www.gamefocus.ca
Brian Edey, December 16, 2008

"There are two most striking features of Pyroblazer which are sticking in my gamers memory and those are the sheer sense of speed while playing the game and the music."

...

"I also mentioned the music and what was most impressive about the music was how it did not fall into the “sci-fi” category of music many games seem to direct themselves towards. Musically Pyroblazer is entertaining, but also keeps up with the action and most importantly does not distract you from flying/driving your ship, but still is memorable while remaining subtle. Not an easy mix by any means and it shows what a talented team can pull off with out resorting to licensed rock acts."

Pyroblazer - Game Preview

Emanuel Avram, June 26, 2008

"Music is also something worth mentioning, because I find that it matches the game pretty well actually. It's somewhat a combination of Unreal's "imposing" music, with some Arabic influences from time to time. And the best aspect of it is that you hear it and like it when you listen, but it doesn't get in your way when you are listening if your enemy wants to sneak up from behind you."

Pyroblazer Preview

Ryan Lodata, 2008

"Many times, especially with racing games, you will find yourself wondering why a particular song was put into a game. With Pyroblazer, the developers have managed to put together a fast, energetic soundtrack that helps push the game along and give the player a thrill."
